Vintage Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace Native American Turquoise Sterling Silver
This is a magnificent Vintage Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace Turquoise Sterling Silver Hand Made 133 Grams. This 20 inch long Navajo necklace has 17 graduated stabilized matched turquoise stones with strong turquoise color, light and dark tan matrix and some tiny pockets of quartz inclusions. The necklace was artist made by a master Navajo silversmithartist although unsigned. Each graduated stone has a hand made plain bezel surrounded by rope twist wire. The stones are mounted on a sterling naja frame of half round wire. The blossoms have a slight flair to the tip. Unmarked and tests positive for sterling silver. The necklace has dark natural patina/ tarnish from age which gives it the natural mellow look of Native American jewelry. The closure is a hook and eye clasp. Each 1/4 inch bench bead is seamed and strung on a wire cable. The length of the blossoms ranges in size from 1 3/4 to 1 1/4 inches. The naja measures 3 1/4 by 3 inches. Without the naja, the necklace measures 20 inches long stretched out from one end of the clasp to the other. From end to end measuring half of the necklace (from the clasp to the end of the naja) measures 13 inches.
